Carniesha Kwashie

CSW Board Member

Carniesha Kwashie is a national and regional award-winning professional known for her social, racial and economic justice driven initiatives. She has extensive management experience working on large scale national programs in both the public and private sectors. Carniesha currently serves as the Sr. Manager of Workforce Development Corporate and Community Impact at PECO. Carniesha is passionate about micro mobility and prior to working on the operator side, she helped launch the Indego Bike Share Program with the City of Philadelphia’s Office of Transportation and Infrastructure Sustainability (oTIS). During this time she also directed the Better Bike Share Partnership, a national initiative. Under Carniesha’s leadership and focus on innovative transportation solutions both programs served as a national model for an equitable bike share system.

Carniesha previously worked in philanthropy as the director of a workforce development funders collaborative at the United Way of Greater Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey. To increase the capacity and improve performance of workforce agencies, she designed and implemented with Corporation for a Skilled Workforce (CSW) and Race Forward a racial equity driven Workforce Benchmark Network initiative- the first of its kind in the nation. In March 2020, Carniesha served as co-lead of the PHL COVID-19 Fund, which funded 500+ non-profits in order to rapidly respond and deploy resources throughout the Greater Philadelphia region in response to the pandemic. Her vision, strategy and leadership ensured the equitable distribution of funds to populations disproportionately impacted by the coronavirus. In all, Carniesha is passionate about supporting and working with communities to improve life outcomes for all. She is a firm believer that teamwork makes the dream work!

Carniesha was a dual major and earned a Bachelor of Arts in African-American Studies and Psychology from Temple University and a Master of Science in Interior Architecture and Design from Drexel University. She is a proud Baltimore native who resides in Philadelphia with her husband, daughter and two dogs.
