Continuing to Serve During Social Isolation

Clients, partners and friends,

As all of us figure out how to adapt to rapidly increasing precautions and protections aimed at slowing the spread of COVID-19, I want to share how we’re approaching this uncharted time at Corporation for a Skilled Workforce (CSW).

First and foremost is protecting as much as possible the safety of our team, our partners and clients, and our friends. To that end, we’re following the directives being issued by the governors of the various states in which CSW staff are based, as well as federal advisories. We have a head start on many other organizations; nearly every CSW staff member works from a home office already. CSW has been virtual since 1993 (pre-Internet), so we’re already set up and used to working from home. The biggest change for CSW is that we’re banning travel and in-person meetings until conditions improve. We will be using Zoom for meetings, focus groups and events.

We’re prepared to honor all of our commitments, recognizing that in some cases work plans and timelines will need to be adjusted due to limitations created in response to the pandemic. Similarly, if you’re encountering unanticipated challenges as you move into this new era, we’re happy to work with you to identify potential solutions.

CSW’s mission statement for many years has included an aspiration to transform work and learning for the benefit of vulnerable people, companies, and communities. We all now live in an unprecedented situation, one that will require transforming work and learning – both during the crisis and as we emerge from it to begin the collective rebuild.

This is unlikely to be a short interlude; all the best guesses I’m hearing are for two months or even longer. And none of us really know how the ripples from each health security action taken will affect employment and family economic security. CSW will do whatever we can to contribute to figuring out good answers during this journey.

Thanks for your partnership during unimaginable times.
